This two day class will focus on understanding weaving drafts and how to manipulate them to suit your weaving design needs. In this class we will spend time writing out weaving drafts on graph paper to better see how they relate to the loom and the woven product. Some of the structures we will work with are;
- Plain Weave Class
- Twill Class
- Unit Class
- Grouped Thread Class
Sessions run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All materials are provided. Bring lunch or a snack for a mid day break. $175.00. Call Gretchen if interested. Some weaving experience desirable.
September 25 – 27, Some weaving experience helpful but not required.
The workshop will focus on double binding, (a reversible block structure). With found fabrics such as old cotton t-shirts, cotton sheets, and assorted rug yarns, we will design and weave colorful floor rugs that are soft and functional. The three day class ($225.00) includes use of the studio looms, material, yarns, and assorted tools. We meet from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day, with a break at mid-day for lunch or a snack.
Kitchen towels never go out of style and you can give them away for holiday gifts.
Set up and weave beautiful, one of a kind kitchen towels. There will be several design options to choose from, (Turned Taquéte, Huck, and Twill). Cotton/linen fiber will be used in any color the studio has on hand. If you have specific colors you would like to use, consult Gretchen and she will guide you as to what and where to order the yarn.

September 4 – 6, and October 15 – 17. For new weavers and those who seek a refresher class.
Participants will design a project (scarf, wall hanging, or table runner), select yarns, wind a warp, “dress” a 4 shaft floor loom, and weave the project. Weavers will learn the vocabulary of weaving and develop a better understanding of the process. The 3 day workshop ($225.00) includes use of the studio’s equipment, yarn, and space. The days run from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (with a break at mid-day for a snack or lunch).
Contact the weaving studio if none of the class sessions fit your schedule and we will work out a private class that works better for you.
Weavers of all skill levels are welcome to book a one, two, or three day weaving focus session to work on a particular structure or fiber that has been of interest to the weaver. Four to twelve shaft jack and counter marche loom types are available to use. Wool, cotton, linen, and synthetic fibers are on hand to experiment with. The weaver is supported and mentored during the design, set-up, and weaving processes. For first time visitors a one day fee is $100.00. For following days there is a $50.00 charge, (half days are okay!) 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For weavers who have demonstrated a commitment to weaving and working on a regular basis in the gallery, the fee changes to $100.00 per month for unlimited use of the weaving studio looms and tools. The weaver must provide their own fiber for larger projects. Samples can use studio materials.
