Summer and Winter is a single two tie unit weave (as defined by Harriet Tidball, Shuttle Craft Guild Monograph 19, ©1966). A multitude of design possibilities can be generated with this structure. Looms of 4 or more shafts can be used, (more shafts = more design blocks). It is a two shuttle weave (similar to the Overshot structure), one shuttle for the ground tabby weft and one for the pattern weft. Fabrics using this structure tend to be good for bed coverings, upholstery, decorative wall pieces and table runners. This focus of this group is to better understand the structure and generate a sample that can be used for future projects. September 25 – 27, 2019.
