Start to Finish

A weaving essentials class open to all weavers but is geared for people newer to weaving.  Participants will learn how to draw out a design, set-up a loom, weave, and finish a project.  We will focus on the design potential of color and texture, while making a sound piece of cloth.  Participants will develop a better understanding of what makes a good piece of cloth based on the desired function of the piece.   The class runs for three consecutive days, for $225.  Price includes instruction, use of studio equipment, yarns, and materials.  Participants are welcome to bring their own yarn and looms if desired.  

Band Weaving, July 25-27, August 22-24.

Band Weaving

July 25-27, August 22-24;  Participants will use Inkle looms to create decorative and useful woven bands.  We will experiment with color and pattern, focusing on Scandinavian traditions.  Woven bands are fundamental to many world cultures.  The class runs for three consecutive days, for $225.  Price includes instruction, use of studio equipment, yarns, and materials.  Participants are welcome to bring their own yarn and looms if desired.  

 

Multi Shaft Double Weave; July 11-13, August 15-17

This class is for intermediate weavers who are interested in understanding double-weave block design.  We will be working on designing for 8 to 16 shaft looms.  Participants will gain an understanding of profile drafting as a design tool.  The potential for dynamic color interactions is vast.  $225.00 class price includes three days of instruction, use of studio weaving equipment, yarns and materials.  Participants may use their own yarns and looms if desired.
